Hi! I’m Lauren Hamer.

I live in North Carolina and began freelance writing in 2016. I’m also the owner of a successful resume writing business that helps professionals job search with confidence. When I'm not writing, you’ll find me wandering the NC mountain ranges trying to escape WiFi signal with my dog, Lyle.

My main service: Writing and editing long-form content for finance, commerce, and tech sites. Freelancer management and editorial operations for start-ups and small businesses.

“Lauren is a thoughtful, engaging writer with a knack for finding fresh ways of looking at stories related to personal finance and careers. I could always count on her to come to our pitch meetings with interesting angles on topics we covered exhaustively -- not an easy thing for every writer to do. Plus, she is a warm, friendly person who brings her positive attitude to all situations.”

“I've worked with Lauren to develop content for two different websites, and she is great and easy to work with! She understood what we wanted to communicate right away and crafted awesome content for my clients. The conversion rate of my client's website went up drastically because we were delivering a clear and specific message to the target audience. This is not my first content writer that I have worked with, but will definitely be my last.”

What’s behind the name “CaPABLE and Beyond?”

I launched my writing career by talking candidly about my disability. CaPABLE…and Beyond became my mashed-up motto and punny play on my other brand, LaunchPoint Resume.

I believe we make our own luck — that excuses are just excuses. What’s with the blog name, you ask?

I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (CP) at a very young age. And while my specific disability is mild in terms of the Cerebral Palsy spectrum, I’ve dealt with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows as a result. The invaluable lessons I’ve been forced to learn are some that most may never experience in a lifetime. And thank God for that.

A common theme in the disability world is that you are not defined by your disability. But I disagree. I most definitely am defined by my disability. My inabilities produced CAPABILITIES that make up my unique VALUE and WORTH. We all struggle with something in our lives. HOW that struggle, disability, or setback defines you, however, is up to you. I’m learning more about this every day.

I am who I am because of my disability -- someone strong, motivated, and CaPABLE.

We all have to start somewhere — a LaunchPoint specific to only ourselves.  As you prepare for the take-off that sends you beyond your comfort zone, there are lessons you’ll want to take with you.  Follow me on my journey, and forge your own path along the way.

Onward + upward, friends.
